Pre-Existing Conditions

chart_americans_at_risk_by_ageBeginning in 2014, all Americans – regardless of health status or any pre-existing conditions – will have access to health insurance either through their employer or through new health insurance Exchanges. This is already true for children under 19, but if you are an adult with a pre-existing condition, the temporary federal insurance pool meant to bridge the gap for you until 2014 has been maxed out.

  • The official gov’t site for the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, which was intended to bridge the gap for those with pre-existing conditions until the ACA took full effect in 2014 but was maxed out earlier in 2013.  Even though enrollment is closed in the PCIP, the site still has useful information & links.
