If you are a legal immigrant, by 2014 you’ll be eligible for subsidies to help pay for healthcare. Funding will also increase to community health centers nationwide. However, there’s still a 5-year waiting period before legal immigrants can qualify for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program. And children of undocumented immigrants are still ineligible for insurance entirely.
